3,000 Move Goals

Hit 5,000 steps today and drop your achievement here — we’re cheering you on!

I’ve written before about how I’m the perfect target demographic for the digital health movement—naturally lazy and not the least bit athletically competitive. I’m not a jock. I respond very favorably to these pretty little “medals” from my AppleWatch. They motivate me.

That’s over EIGHT YEARS of meeting my daily move goal.

Now, if WordPress.Com doesn’t reach out to personally congratulate me, I’ll be disappointed.

Side note: Apple Watch doesn’t give awards for “Step Count.” It focuses on Standing (12x per/day); Exercise (30 minutes per/day); and Active Calories (mine is currently set to 380, but last summer it was 420).

Apparently I haven’t had a perfect week since last summer. I need to get back to that.

  1. I have been very, very curious to figure out what to set for my goals. I have the move one set at 500 calories, because if I meet it every day, what good is it? I am so not motivated to do that stuff because of the Apple badges, but I sure do appreciate a full bunch of circles. My exercise is set for 60 min/day and stand at 15 hours. I’m like you in that I don’t play any sports and am not naturally athletic, but I also abhor sitting around, just physically can’t do it. You go, you with the fabulous record!!!

    1. I’m most motivated by a full set of circles too! The medals are just fun to get and i appreciate them.
You’re like my husband – restless! He also has a very hard time sleeping and also has restless leg syndrome. I’m a more sedentary type.
Thanks for congratulating me Shelly! 🙏😊

    1. I’m intrigued Laurie. I also suffer with osteoarthritis on the inside of my knees and it has recently begun to get worse. I used to regularly do 10,000 steps a day but “pounding the pavements” as my GP puts it is not good for me apparently.
I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and do aqua aerobics and pilates but have never thought of going on the exercise bike in the gym area. Does it help?

  2. I don’t have an Apple Watch but am enthused by my Kindle rewards 😊 and thus setting a yearly target for books read. I figure I do enough exercise at the gym and that this reward system pushes me to relax more!
