If you could change the ending of any book, which one would it be?
I don’t really like this prompt.
To me, the most memorable ending of any book I’ve ever read was the final scene of John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Did I tell you that my husband’s first name is Mario and he’s of 100% Italian ancestry?

Gratitude for food is always a good thing. Especially when you think that for many centuries, getting enough to eat was a constant struggle.

Yes! And Thus the use of “pig’s jowl” in dishes created by poor Southern Italians 🤣

I agree with you about how book endings should not be changed. I think so too…

Looks tasty, though I can honestly say I’ve never had pigs jowl.

It’s very flavorful! But you could substitute bacon and that would work fine…(for people not married to thoroughbred Italians, lol)

I guess I am lucky that my husband can and does cook meals. It’s weird to me that some do absolutely no cooking.

When my husband retired he willingly offered to do the cooking. Given I’d been cooking, out of necessity, since I was 14 I was more than happy to let him take over.
it is kind of weird though when I do cook now that I don’t know where anything is in my own kitchen! 😊

I guess he rearranged it to his liking—a small price to pay! Sounds like you married a good one.

I agree. I am truly blessed.
Last year he decided to take up baking and so as part of his birthday present I bought him a place at one of Jamie Oliver’s cookery school classes. He now bakes bread replacing the shop bought stuff we used to buy.
This year he has spread his wings still further and started to make cakes and home made butter. To avoid putting on too much weight we sample his creations and then share the rest with others.

Homemade bread is so much better than store bought.

I don’t like that prompt either. I do, however, love pasta.

Same! Nothing like a big bowl of pasta. Even in summer, it’s so good!

Wow, the one your husband made looks 100% better than the one in the recipe! You might need to get him to share his recipe.

Thanks! He did make a few modifications—definitely a bit more guanciale than the recipe called for.

You’re welcome. The color is also different. Did he use any sauce or additional condiments?

He didn’t add any ingredients, but I think the extra guanciale added more fat (like bacon), so his was saucier.

That makes sense.
