I was never much for saying “the early bird catches the worm.”
The only time I ever remember getting to work early was before smart phones in the late 80s. I had forgotten to set my clock back for daylight savings and I thought it was 9am on a Monday morning, when it was actually 8am. I ran into one of the senior executives (a super annoying one) and she said “you’re here EARLY” and I was like… what?
I made a real effort to make sure my kids were “on time” for school each day, with only a few “tardies” each year. My daughter took part in one auditioned choral group in middle school that rehearsed in the morning (before school) and it was NOT fun getting her there. Who the heck wants to sing at 7am?
And now that I’m a retired Grandma, I’m more of a three cups of coffee, then maybe I’ll do some kind of chore like go to the grocery store. In contrast, my husband is up and out to the gym at like 6am. He’s the early bird.

I feel like this used to be more relevant to achievement than it is now. So many night owls are just as productive these days. I’m an early bird, but get up early so that I can take my time with the 3 cups of coffee. 🙂

That’s what I do when I’m forced to get up early. I cannot just get up and get out the door in 20 minutes!

I can do it, but I’ll feel cheated. 🙂

Yeah i’m wishy-washy on this. I do like getting up early, mostly because that’s some really good alone time, with no interruptions and i’m more alert. Alone time at night after everyone’s gone to bed is nice too but it’s pointless when all i do is fall asleep on the couch lol

I totally get that. Especially with all you’ve got going on at home!

I am with you all the way on this. Early in the morning is not for me. I have to ease gradually into waking up by listening to podcasts for a good half-hour before I get out of bed.

The early bird needs a ton of coffee. That’s for sure. Chorale practice at 7 am sounds like a worse punishment than staying after school.
I love that retired grandma time is all yours for the choosing. You put in the time. You deserve it.

I am very lucky to have that kind of leeway, I know that! Thanks 😊

My husband is the early bird and damn him, he makes so much noise fumbling around at 3:00 or 4:00am he usually wakes me as well. It’s rare I’m in bed past 5:30.

OMG!! That’s soooo early. No wonder you get so many good animal pics.

The older he gets, the earlier he’s up.
Not even retirement makes him sleep in.
