Semiquincentennial

Daily writing prompt
Go on a walk today and share a photo of something that catches your eye.

This is the only American flag of any kind that I saw on my walk today, which is weird.

This was near the mailbox of a house that gives MAGA vibes.

I feel like Trump has ruined the nation’s big 250th birthday celebration. Nobody around here is in the mood. Between the fascist arch, the 1.8B slush fund for insurrectionists, skyrocketing fuel & healthcare prices, and the horrific reports from inside the immigrant detention centers, it’s hard to get hyped for the big party.

  1. I remember 1976 as a child. It was raucous, colorful, patriotic and unifying. We were all Americans and we celebrated that.
Sadly, that’s not going to happen this time and I have no desire to cheer the state of our democracy right now. And that’s sad.

    1. A Canker sore is right! And that’s being very kind. By the way, we finally bit the bullet and watched the film The Apprentice with Jeremy Strong. It’s helpful in some ways understanding where all that depravity started. Did you see it?

      1. Yes, I saw that movie and while I liked the performances, I thought young Trump was not accurately portrayed. From what I have read, he was a bully and a loud mouth as a young child. He got in so much trouble in school and brawled so much that his father sent him to military school, where Trump flourished even more as a bully. In the movie, young Trump was much too soft.
