The Golden Bachelor
UPDATE: They’re getting divorced, after just three months. I’m mad I got sucked into this show. No more “reality” TV for me!

Had to look them up. Another contrived relationship bites the dust.

Yup. The show got huge ratings here in the US, so I know I’m not alone. But still, so dumb.

Years ago, I was at my son’s gymnastic practice. One of the mom’s there had a friend who was a contestant on The Bachelor.
To sum it up, I will say that the only thing more contrived than scripted TV shows is reality TV.

I knew that too (from a relative who was on a show), but somehow the older cast sucked me right in.

Really? I shouldn’t be surprised, but I’m actually surprised! I caught a few episodes. For some reason, I thought they would be different – already lived a lifetime and knew who they are and what they wanted. He seemed like a nice guy.

I know. Me too. Apparently they had a prenup and just couldn’t agree on where to live. He seemed sincere, especially with ALL those tears, but now I have my doubts.

They should have just split the difference and lived part time in both places. Best of both worlds.

I guess I’m a little little bit more cynical. My TV viewing experiences have taught me that virtually everybody who goes into a reality TV shows hopes to parlay that into a career in the entertainment industry.
I know. Not all of them do. But the vast majority of them seem to have that agenda.

You’re probably right. Sigh. (This one did seem different and had huge ratings)

I think you are spot on. It’s funny when I’ve watched some cringeworthy moments on TV and I begin to feel bad for the public humiliation. But then I think to myself, they knew what they were signing up for….
