Thanks to Laurie’s prompting, my husband and I went and got the new updated COVID vaccine yesterday. It was free at CVS—actually, better than free—we each got a $5 coupon. The pharmacist said she had eighty appointments to give the shot yesterday, so people in Massachusetts are taking it seriously.

Sadly, we’re not getting good public health information from our federal government any longer in the United States. Fascists and quacks are running the show. People are actually dying of measles again here in the US, while Dear Leader breaks ground on his Triumphal Arch.

We have to rely on other agencies and the news media for public health information. Here’s what the major medical groups are recommending.

  2. Glad we inspired you to get your Covid vaccines! Even a mild case of Covid is no fun. And what a bonus to get those coupons. As for Junior…I don’t think he is all there. Too many drugs, perhaps. Or maybe he did indeed have a brain worm that ate away essential parts of his brain.

    1. My “mild case” of Covid in 2022 resulted in moderate but permanent hearing loss in one ear, which my doctor confirmed is now a known risk of the disease.
      So true about Junior! He reminds me of some very fucked up rich kids that I went to college with—their brains fried from using far too many drugs.

  3. I’m not sure why, but I haven’t had my vaccine in a few years. Thanks for the reminder. On a side note, how does anyone take RFK Jr seriously? Deleting data doesn’t make the truth any less true. I wonder how he sleeps at night.

    1. I don’t know how anyone takes Junior seriously! He really reminds me of the rich kids I went to college with (prep school grads) who had fried their brains using way too many hard drugs and psychedelics. And yes, get your COVID shot—especially since you have tinnitus like me! My doctor confirmed that my one-sided hearing reduction (the side with bad tinnitus) is now linked back to my first COVID infection (as I thought).

Ugh someone placed an anti socialist democrats flyer on my car..telling me make sure I vote Republican because the democratic socialists are destroying our country…🤔 last I looked the house majoriity lawmakers are Repugnantcans as well as The Biggly in charge. Not everyone in our country is as stupid as the maker of that flyer believes.

  5. Making my appt this week, I think. Just need two days off in a row. 🙂 Thankful to have gotten the Shingles shot out of the way. Do you get flu shot at the same time?

    1. Oh, and that RFK Jr. is addled should not have to matter to any of us. The system is so flawed that he is able to have and so far keep this much power.. that any of the people in this Cabinet have.

    2. My doc said to wait a bit to get the flu vaccine (maybe early October?), but COVID is bad right now, I hear. Glad you got the Shingles vaccine!! That’s so important. I actually think it’s a 2-shot series, right? (My husband got shingles that went into his eye, which was horrific)

        I’ve heard about Shingles getting into eyes! Awful!!!

  7. We get reminded every year here of vaccines that we should have. Some folk get them for free (based on age n well being) but others like me have to pay. Needless to say I didn’t get any last Autumn.
    I caught Covid for the first time last October after going to Europe and had it for 2 weeks, it then took 3 months for the inflammation to go away!
    I then caught it again at the end of June having been to Europe, 3 weeks without a voice and 6 weeks of back to back antibiotics, plus steroids and a chest X-ray!
    My GP told me I must wear a mask on flights that are less than 4 hrs because the air doesn’t get change enough and its a germ laden voyage 🤷‍♀️
    Needless to say I’m going to pay this year!!!

    1. It’s worth it! I have permanently diminished hearing in one ear due to my first bout of Covid which caused labyrinthitis and vertigo in my right ear

      1. I can well understand that Mary. This bout I’ve just got over caused me to lose my voice for 3 weeks and then it came n went over the next 3 weeks. It caused inflammation in various parts of my body that took strong antibiotics n steroids to clear and I got dizziness which the GP told me was because it had caused imbalance in my ears n I wasn’t allowed to drive until it went away.
        It’s underlined for me that it is still out there, still mutating and affecting people in so many different ways
