How do you deal with uncertainty?
Clearly not very well, based on yesterday’s post, which I have since deleted because it was so whiny. (Turns out I got all the information I needed about the out-of-town wedding later that day.)
As Tina of A Midlife Adventure once noted that one of the good outcomes of COVID is that nearly all travel plans are cancellable these days. I’ve had to cancel both my Dance Camp and Acadia National Park trips because I have developed plantar fasciitis in my left heel. It started after my Circle Dance in June. I was wearing cheap shoes and we did a flat-footed dance and I think I just stomped too hard for too long. I’m finally getting physical therapy for it, but I can’t walk very far at the moment.
Life is totally uncertain. Everyone knows this, but people over 60 really know it. Sadly, we all have close friends and family members who have died. I guess the main things you can do in the face of uncertainty are: 1) Breathe; 2) Gather as much information as you can about the issue at hand (burying your head in the sand rarely helps); and 3) Don’t get too attached to your plans!

Hey we’re allowed to whine once in a while ☺️

I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve had to cancel your plans again, I do feel for you. As you get older you never know what is around the next corner but as you have sought help quickly hopefully it will get sorted.
Thank you for mentioning me in your blog post 🙏.

Ps Mary, I liked your wedding post maybe because I’m seeing weddings changing too and I can’t say I’m liking it. There could be a blog post there?

Sorry your plans had to be cancelled, but I had PF once so I completely understand. It can be painful as hell.
I’m not sure anyone can deal with uncertainty. We just have to go with the flow, as well as the new aches and pains that come with age.

Thank you! And so true. “Go with the flow” is as good a philosophy as any.

Plantar fasciitis sucks! It’s tough because you have to to strike a balance between resting it and doing what you need to do on it.
Hope you’re feeling better.

Thanks Rob! So true, it’s hard to heal anything with your feet because you have to use them. I got my bike out and have been swimming too.

Excellent advice, Mary. Not getting too attached to plans is definitely extremely important. I hope your plantar fasciitis improves quickly. It can be a real pain sometimes.
