Balance

Daily writing prompt
Do you believe in minimalism?

I try to have a “one in, one out” policy. For example, if I buy a pair of shoes, there’s probably at least one pair sitting in my closet that I never wear and can get rid of.

I like to keep things in balance and not accumulate.

How’s that for a minimalist answer?

This large pastel piece titled “Dark House” by an artist friend hangs in my family room.

    1. I put the “out” stuff on a big shelf in my closet I call “purgatory.” It stays there for six months or so and if I don’t miss it, then I donate it to charity and it’s gone for good!

  1. No, I am not a minimalist. As a Franco-American, I have a passion for knickknacks. However, I do exercise restraint. While I seldom get rid of anything, I seldom add. And, because I am a Franco, I like things to be tidy, which helps.

    I really like Dark House.

    1. Thank you for commenting on the art! I like it too. The inside story is that my friend made it after a miscarriage, so it’s sad, but I love the minimalism of it.
