Coincidentally, I’m LX too—same as the Super Bowl.
Last night was a bummer for Pats fans, but hey…nobody ever expected them to make it to the Super Bowl this year. It’s just too bad they were never really in the game. Husband disappointed, but not crushed.
On the bright side, Bad Bunny was awesome. I closed the activity ring on my Apple Watch dancing along. No, I didn’t understand most of the Spanish, but I liked the vibe. My favorite part was the ending where they came dancing straight towards the camera flying all the flags of the Americas.

It definitely felt like a big F U to Trump and ICE and all that they represent—white nationalism, hate, fear.
And apparently Trump took it like that.

It’s rich that a man who has been credibly accused of raping a 13-year old is complaining that salsa dancing is too “disgusting” for children to watch.
I took my family to Puerto Rico in 2016, because I really wanted to see it. We liked it a lot. Ahead of that trip, I tried to learn some Spanish with an online language learning program through my library. I gained a lot of words, but no real fluency. I did the same thing before a trip to Mexico.
Bad Bunny made me want to give it another shot at some point.

Final thought: Brandi Carlile did a beautiful version of America the Beautiful—it would make a much better national anthem.

Totally agree. It wasn’t political, it was unifying.
Unlike the game itself which had my husband yelling at the television. What a nightmare for the Pats. Good thing I was rooting for the Hawks.

Well it was unifying for US. Check out the online hate from the other side. Showing their true colors.
Congrats to your Hawks!

The fact that the right had to host an alternative show because they couldn’t watch a performance in Spanish is my definition of snowflake.

I loved the halftime show too! It was awesome. Your last pic looks exactly the way he showed Puerto Rico last night, there was one part where the set looked exactly like that!

Thanks for noticing! That’s why I pulled that one out. 🙂

Yay, Bad Bunny! Didn’t watch the Super Bowl, but I listened to Bad Bunny’s music this morning. You do not have to understand Spanish to like the music. The rhythm just pulls you along. Is Trump ever on the side of anything that’s good? So far, I haven’t seen any evidence of it.

I wish I did better learning Spanish, but I agree—the music gets you moving either way.
And just when you think Trump can’t go any lower…he outdoes himself 😡

I knew I’d love the halftime show, but honestly, I was blown away by the wholesomeness and lovestrong messages. Those were real businesses and a real wedding! I am not a huge fan of reggaeton generally, but I think that’s just because it was often part of so many events in Miami and I had a hard time discerning between songs. Bad Bunny may have cured me.
I can’t believe it, but I also watched the whole Superbowl! I was riveted, and I think it was because of the incredible local energy I mentioned before. I haven’t experienced that since Dan Marino in the 80s!

Oh great! I’m glad you loved both the game and the halftime show. And you’re right, Bad Bunny was pretty darn wholesome overall! None of it would have been the least bit controversial in normal times, but you just knew it would get the MAGA fascists fuming.
Congrats to your Hawks! Seattle must be hoppin’ with happiness. 😊

It’s a fantastic energy! Glad to hear your husband didn’t take the loss too poorly. They did make some interesting plays. 🙂
And definitely, re Bad Bunny. It’s pitiful to have to make your own halftime. So Jr. High!
