How on earth is a disgraced, twice-impeached, 4X-indicted, racist, gun culture-supporting, coup d’état-attempting grifter and rapist the GOP’s choice for President of the United States in the next election?
And worst of all, he’s directly responsible for this.

Amen sista! My husband is already preparing for the meltdown I will have if he wins. What makes me more nervous is there are still people supporting this morally bankrupt piece of crap

Writing postcards with other activists (or alone) makes me feel better. At least I won’t wake up on Nov 6 and wish I’d done more. Hopefully we’ll be having a big street party that day. 🤞🏼

Other politicians careers have been destroyed for far less stuff than what Trump has done.
Remember Howard Dean, and his scream? That doomed his political career.
The only answer is that Trumpism IS A CULT.
I want to say that I think this trial this week will be very telling, but I’ve said that so many times about him already that I don’t know what it’s gonna take for some people to wake up anymore

I agree. Also, I’m slightly encouraged that Mike Johnson is showing a hint of a backbone. We need more bravery from people like him. More Liz Cheneys and E Jean Carrolls please 🙏🏼

If MTG is going after Johnson, he must not be totally morally reprehensible.

Agree, it’s a small point in his favor—a hint of moral compass

You ask a very perplexing question. How can it be avoided from happening again? Beyond voting against him, will the core problem be addressed; that is, why do so many people find him acceptable to be a President of the United States?

Good point. But we’ll never know til he’s out of the electoral picture. That’s step one.

I hope that happens.

I keep telling myself there is no way in hell he wins, people are more sensible. Then I see MAGA people on the news and can’t understand how they are such rabid believers. It’s pretty frightening. Like Rob says in his comment, it’s a cult.

Honestly, the culty ones scare me less than the “normal” people who vote for him on the DL. They overlook everything b/c they think he’ll somehow keep their taxes lower or portfolios higher (even though he won’t)

I know some of the normal ones. It’s surprising, because they are so normal. What I can’t understand is the religious right turning a blind eye. Seeing that honestly made me think less of Christianity. Hurts me to say that, but I can’t understand their unwavering support.

I know exactly what you mean about the religious right. How’s a twice-divorced grifter their guy? Maybe the seediness of this hush money trial will finally get to them.

I wondered about that. If that doesn’t, it’s pretty sad. And maybe I shouldn’t condemn religion as a whole, but that’s where my mind went when Trump was first elected. Fingers crossed for November!
