Completed in 2003, the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge (on the right side of photo) was named to honor the late Lenny Zakim’s civil rights and race relations work in Boston.
Back in the dock at Rowe’s Wharf, the huge flag seemed symbolic. It was the final night of the epic 2024 Democratic National Convention. Kamala Harris was accepting our party’s nomination later that night.

  3. When I heard that line “regardless of what language your grandmother speaks”, I was touched. Both sets of my grandparents were born in the US, so it’s not because they applied to that line. It just felt inclusive to all and highlighted that we are a nation of immigrants and we can still love America regardless of our family’s origins.

    1. Thank you. And I agree, it was a wonderful, inclusive line. Grandmothers and mothers were a theme in many speeches…I liked that too.
      How are your right-leaning friends feeling now? I was happy to hear from my son that the guys his age are way less into Trump this time around! (My son was never allowed to even entertain the idea of liking Trump in our house, lol)

      1. I usually avoid the topic of politics with my right leaning friends. I try not to view them in a different light, but it’s sometimes difficult. Fortunately, they are not MAGA, but they have their own reasons for still supporting the Republican Party. I hoping to wake up one morning and find the world is back on its axis, the sun shining and enjoy the best cup of coffee in the world.
