What’s a secret skill or ability you have or wish you had?

I think the difficult word in this prompt is “secret.” I have a couple of skills that I like to brag about and/or show off, with baton twirling being the most impressive. I can also sing a very high note, when called for. For example, my choir was asked to perform “Bohemian Rhapsody” at a memorial service last year and someone had to sing that very high note (you know the one). It’s a high B-flat. Welp, I fucking nailed it. (And yes, there is a video, but the fact that it was a funeral prevents me from posting it.)

So clearly, modesty is not keeping me from sharing any other exciting skills with the world. If I could choose a new skill to secretly have, it’d probably be clairvoyance. Sometimes, I’d like to know what’s going to happen ahead of time so I wouldn’t worry so much.

      2. I did many parades in high school, including in Boston when the hostages got released from Iran in January 1981. We had very short skirts and we were freezing – and twirling freezing metal batons!

  4. The baton twirling is pretty impressive. I think it’s safe to say there are only a small percentage of people in this world that can do that. Singing Bohemian Rhapsody is even more impressive. I keep thinking what a unique song this is. Queen – creative geniuses. If you ever watch reaction videos on YouTube, this song is always entertaining. People listening to it for the first time are first confused and then blown away by it.

    Also, check out Angelina Jordan’s cover of this song. 13 year old on AGT. Jaw dropping good.

      2. Oh yeah, you definitely need to watch the movie. You get the whole backstory of Bohemian Rhapsody. I watched Angelina Jordan. I loved her version of that section of the song, but she only did part of the song!

  6. I think we’d all like to know what might happen in the future, so we can prepare for it. But settling for baton twirler (my daughter is another with that skill) and hitting a high note in a choir – is something I admire greatly.

  7. Very impressive!! I really wish schools here in the UK would teach kids to sing during their music lessons. Haha, reminded myself of that New Seakers song. “I’d like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony”. Yes, I’m that old 😀
