What would you do if you won the lottery?
If I won the lottery ($10M or more), I’d buy a beach house with a large pool. It seems that climate change is wreaking havoc with all coastal areas, so it could be risky. But then again, Vermont and interior Maine have had historic flooding the past two years, so no place is safe. For some reason, I’d rather my deluxe, fantasy second home get washed away by the ocean in a hurricane than by some dumb brook that went haywire with rain. The ocean seems like a more worthy adversary.
I think I may be suffering from climate fatalism.

I vote for the beach house!

I agree. Go with the beach house!
I’ve heard scientists say that by the year of 2100, Michigan’s Mackinac Island will supposedly have a San Diego type climate due to global climate changing.
Just something to think about…

OK, it’s settled. I’ll definitely get the beach house when I win. Thanks! 😊

I agree, I’d still go for the beach house. The coasts are ever-changing, hence why they look like they do now. Greenland was once notably very lush, followed by the ice age, and now we’re still coming out of the ice age and is becoming more lush again. Maybe consider enjoying a beach house there?

Interesting! I think Greenland water temps would be a tad too cold. 😉 I want to swim in the ocean at my beach house. (Frankly, it’s also a problem in Maine – too damn cold without a wet suit. Even in July!)
