I am a grantwriter for arts organizations and an enthusiastic reader. I also love to sing. This is my first foray into blogging. Having turned 50 recently, I’ve been reflecting a lot, and also thinking about what the next phase of life might bring. Married for 20+years, I have a high school-aged son and a daughter in college.

UPDATE: I’m pushing 60 now and the world has changed. 2016 – 2023 has been “unprecedented,” as they say. Grateful for the continued love and good health of my family: Mario, Lucia and John. Very concerned about the forced-birth movement, gun violence, and continued Trumpism in the United States, as well as mounting global climate catastrophes.

UPDATE II: I am 60 and I am GRANDMOTHER! Best promotion ever!! I think I’m retired, but not 100% sure. I am in a transitional period, as is the country. What will come next?

Hey, your blog just showed up on a Google+ email I got, which is funny as I don’t even think I joined Google+. Any any rate, nice posts–keep it up! Although I have to say it somehow seems *more* surprising that you’re 50 now, even as, of course I turned 50 this year too.

I would love to see a blog from you with your thoughts and perspectives on sending your first child off to college since I just went through that process myself. Was it hard for you? How did it change the dynamic of your house? Did anything surprise you?
