I asked it if the United States is still considered a democracy. Here’s its answer:
As of mid-April 2025, the United States is still officially classified as a democracy by major global indices, but it is experiencing significant democratic backsliding under President Donald Trump’s second term.
Freedom House continues to rate the U.S. as “Free” with a score of 84/100, though this reflects a decline from previous years and ongoing concerns about executive overreach and erosion of civil liberties.
The V-Dem Institute has warned that the U.S. is on track to lose its democracy status within six months if current trends continue, citing actions such as undermining the judiciary, centralizing power, and attacking the press.
Recent developments include the Trump administration’s defiance of a unanimous Supreme Court ruling, raising concerns about the rule of law and the system of checks and balances.
In summary, while the U.S. retains its democratic status, it is undergoing significant challenges that threaten the health and resilience of its democratic institutions.

Sigh. We can only hope that Trump overplays his hand, and the majority sees him for what he is. Then votes accordingly.

If it’s not too late by 2026…many are saying the next 6 months will seal the deal one way or the other. It was chilling to hear the Senator from Alaska talking about her fear of “retaliation.”

Chilling is right. I have had two really bad colds this year. I blame Trump and all the stress he’s caused.

Hmm, maybe AI is a more accurate tool than I originally thought. I often joke that AI is the classic business scenario of “what you put in, you get out” meaning “garbage in, garbage out.” But I might have to rethink that scenario. Ha, ha. Sounds pretty spot on.

And it linked to legitimate sources for each of the claims it made. (I checked the hyperlinks, but they didn’t copy and paste with the text.)

That’s actually very interesting. I’m surprised the crazy orange ringmaster hasn’t come out and tried to block ChatGRP for making such statements. I’m hoping that mroe and more folks notice and act accordingly — be it their voices and their votes.

I was thinking about the same thing. I listen to the radical shifts in our government and wonder how people don’t connect the dots and still support him. Who knew we’d ever be in this place in history. I never knew one man could do so much damage.
