Haiku: Week One

Each new outrage sears

As they are designed to do

If you can’t watch, breathe

Week One of having a rapist and convicted felon in the White House has sent me back to meditation. I’m fortunate that my minister holds weekly online guided meditation for free. She talks for a bit and then we sit in shared silence, paying attention to our breathing, for about 30 minutes. When a thought pops in, I try to just notice it, then let it float away and return to my breath or mantra. The mantra I’ve been using is “Be Here Now.”

  1. Wonderful that your minister holds a weekly online meditation. Holy cats, what a time we live in. Still haven’t returned to blogging. I’m thinking about expanding the blog to include something along the lines of “My Blue Life,” where I write about the everyday struggles of being a progressive in a regressive country. I don’t know. Somehow I just can’t see myself only writing about the joys of rural life, even though there are still many pleasures to be found.

    1. I hope you return to blogging and include your thoughts and challenges as a progressive and all the joyful rural life stuff too. If you lose a few followers who don’t like politics, so be it. How ‘bout that brave Bishop? Inspiring, right?

    1. Oh, I like it too! I think I asked WordPress free photo library for a picture of “peace” and I got this. I like the little camp at the side of the lake.
