Do you have a favorite place you have visited? Where is it?
A year ago this week we were wrapping up a bucket list trip to Paris. I loved it and posted many times about it, with lots of photos.
Below are four iconic works of art we saw there.
Just for fun:
Can you name the artist or title of each work without the help of Google or ChatGPT?
If you took Art History 101 and 102, you really should get 100%. If you weren’t a scarf-wearing liberal arts major in the 80s (like me), I think you should still be able to get a 50 or 75.
Good luck.

Yes! Except for one on the tip of my tongue but oh well. 🙂 How wonderful that you took such a dream trip!

It’s Picasso’s “Large Nude with Drapery” from his neoclassical period

Shocked! Picasso?! I thought it was a lesser known artist, Spanish name. I was wayyyy off. 🙂 Fun.

Those are great pictures. I loved seeing all of those when I went to Paris as well. Definitely a bucket list kind of experience.

Thank you! And yes, with 50M visitors per year, Paris has gotta be the #1 Bucket List city.

I don’t have a clue. But that last piece of art, I feel I have seen that one before.

The last one is a Vincent Van Gogh self-portrait. I love how he seemed to capture his own insanity closing in. I believe he cut off his own year shortly after this “selfie.”
The famous ballerina “Little Dancer” is by Edgar Degas. #2 is an early Picasso. And #3 is the Venus de Milo – it’s in the Louvre – probably the most-visited sculpture in the Antiquities wing.

Withn you saying the last art piece being Vincent Van Gogh. That will be why that one felt familar. I have probably seen that before when looking up Vincent Van Gogh art some years ago. But I had forgotten.
I have looked up some Picasso art before. But not as much as one time looking up Vincent Van Gogh.
I have heard of the “Little Dancer.” But I have not seen the art.

I love Van Gogh. His Starry Night Over Rhône River was nearby in the same museum.

Great pictures! So cool to cross it off your bucket list!
I’m in the 50% camp. I’ve seen #1, but the name and artist escaped me. I had to look it up afterwards. #2 looks faintly familiar but I have no idea.

50% is a passing grade on this quiz! Well done. The ballerina is the “Little Dancer” by Edgar Degas. #2 is an early Picasso. #3 is the Venus de Milo. #4 is a Van Gogh selfie.

Picasso? Really? Wow! Who would have guessed! I recognize the ballerina but didn’t know the name or artist. This was fun. Thanks!

I passed 😂 50%. No, I did not wear a scarf for my degree.

Great job SJ! That’s a good score for someone who majored in engineering or math like you 😉 You were probably too busy studying to futz around with scarves, lol

50% grade this end which I consider damn fine considering my degree was in short skirts and Creedence Clear Water:)
